XIII EPCA Conference

Galzignano, Italy, July 07-10, 2016

Regular, 13th biannual EPCA conference held in Galzignano Terme near Padova was a a lovely and vibrant event and a big success in which SCA’s input was sell noticed.

13th European Personal Construct Association Conference took place in Galzignano spa, near Padua, from 7th to 10th July. It was attended by about 200 Constructivists from countries around the world. Among the delegates were the usual major names of constructivist theory including David Winter, Harry Procter and Peter Cummins, but also a lot of new names among which the most numerous were students of the Italian school of constructivism. Our association was presented with a group of 21 students and educators, as well as with the participation of two delegates, prof. Stojnov and dr. Miletić in a plenary lecture and with presentations held by our students.

The focus of this year’s conference was the use of Personal Construct Psychology in different contexts: in companies, within the education system, in working with athletes, working with children, in the context of clinical practice, as well as some interesting new theoretical elaborations in subjectivity. Also, the focus of the conference was the presentation of the activities of constructivists, therefore the winter school of constructivism “Alpine tales” and the newly established scientific laboratory of Constructivism were presented. Alpine tales is a project of winter school similar to the earlier summer school Racconti Mediterranei taking place during February in the Alps. Project Scientific laboratories will offer a variety of courses of Psychology of personal constructs with application in psychotherapy and coaching starting in 2017.

 

Within the conference there was an exchange of knowledge and experience, but also socializing by the pool, on evening parties and Gala dinner with which the conference was closed.

The next European conference will probably be held in 2018 Sweden, while there may be a possibility to organize 2020 Conference in Serbia.

Fun facts: An average day in the Conference is 6 hours of workshops and presentations 3 hours in the pool, 3 hours of eating pasta and drinking wine, 3 hours of sightseeing, 7 hours of sleep, 2 hours of something else.
