On 7th July, Serbian Constructivist Association had a rare chance and delightful privilege to host the lecture “Toward Relational Theory and Practice” given by Professor Kenneth Gergen and his wife Professor Mary Gergen.
PROFESSORS KEN AND MARY GERGEN IN SCA On 7th July, Serbian Constructivist Association had a rare chance and delightful privilege to host the lecture “Toward Relational Theory and Practice” given by Professor Kenneth Gergen and his wife Professor Mary Gergen. In 1967 Gergen took a position as Chair of the Department of Psychology at Swarthmore College, a position he held for ten years. At various intervals he served as visiting professor at the University of Heidelberg, the University of Marburg, the Sorbonne, the University of Rome, Kyoto University, etc. In an attempt to link his academic work to societal practices he collaborated with colleagues to create the Taos Institute in 1996. He is currently a Senior Research Professor at Swarthmore, the Chairman of the Board of the Taos Institute, and an adjunct professor at Tilburg University.
Mary Gergen is Professor Emeritus at Penn State University, and a major contributor to feminist psychology and performance inquiry. She is the author of over 50 articles and is the co-author (with Ken Gergen) of “Social Construction”, also published in Serbian translation by Zepter Book World. They publish the Positive Aging Newsletter.
Interesting and inspiring lecture about relational basis of psychological life, delivered in unusually understandable and clear way, was witnessed by thirty members of Serbian Constructivist Association who have expressed their warm thanks for the lecture and wished Gergens an enjoyable stay in Belgrade.
